Improv Creates Confidence! Beginner's Improv Comedy

  • Mary Ward Centre Queen's Square London WC1N 3AQ UK (map)

Fancy trying improv? Feel a bit self-conscious or nervous? This is the course for you!

Vic's sessions at the Mary Ward Centre, Holborn are a fun and friendly introduction to comedy improvisation. You don't need to have any comedy, improv or performance experience - you'll learn everything in the room while playing games and creating scenes with new friends. There's no pressure to be funny! You'll find that the laughs come naturally from the situation. This is a safe and inclusive class where you will surprise yourself at your inventiveness and wit.

You'll achieve:
• More confidence both in front of others and in yourself.
• Basic performance and improvisation skills.
• A greater sense of creativity and imagination.
• A joyful ease at collaborating with your classmates and scene partners.

Each class is two and a half hours long across six Thursday evenings. The sessions are full of fun games, exercises and scenes and you'll surprise yourself at how quickly you feel more confident and find the funny.

It's taught by Victoria Hogg at the famous Holborn adult education hub: Mary Ward Centre, Queen's Square, W1CN 3AQ. Vic is an experienced teacher who uses her MA in Applied Theatre alongside a wide range of improv training to get the best from participants in a really fun, low-risk environment.
